Collaboration, creativity, and connection were on full display during our recent Monster STEM Project!
Through a partnership between Mrs. Ochall, art teacher at UTMS, and Mr. Dickey, art teacher at JSE and UCE, our big and little Bearcats came together for a hands-on learning experience that blended art, design, and problem-solving.
Kindergarten students began the project by imagining and drawing their very own unique monsters. From colorful fur and multiple eyes to wild patterns and imaginative features, their creativity had no limits!
Our talented middle school art students then took those original drawings and brought them to life. Using sewing skills, planning, and careful craftsmanship, they created soft, stuffed replicas that matched the kindergarteners’ designs as closely as possible.
The highlight of the project was presentation day, when middle school students surprised their kindergarten buddies with the finished monsters. Smiles, excitement, and pride filled the room as students saw their artwork transformed into something they could hold and keep.
The Monster STEM Project is a wonderful example of collaboration across grade levels and shows how creativity can build meaningful connections within our Bearcat family. #BearcatConnect
