The Wheeler High School Show Choir named ENCORE, is an extra-curricular choir that emphasizes pop/contemporary music and dancing. Any students, grades 9-12 are invited to participate.

A call-out meeting is held at the end of the previous school year to find out who may be interested in joining for the following year. The show choir jump starts their program by having a “camp” the week before school. Camp is usually from 9:00AM-noon M-F for 5 days. Music is passed out along with rehearsal CDs. Several of the songs are learned and choreographed at that time.

ENCORE performs at the high school talent show, at the spring Kiwanis luncheon, at the spring concert and often at other events (Kiwanis Balloonfest, ISSMA show choir competition, Music in the Parks at Six Flags Great America and every 4 years at Walt Disneyworld in Orlando, Florida are some of the possibilities).

No audition is necessary however, a commitment to the show choir is expected and those participating must attend rehearsals. Rehearsals usually are on Monday evenings but may vary during the year.

Ms. Hardesty (vocal director) and Mrs. Ball (choreographer) are the co-directors. You may contact either of them if you have any questions.
